Undoubtedly the star attraction of the entire meet, California Chrome has blown away the competition in the Challenge series, with a win in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar, before blowing the field away in the Awesome Again Stakes with an effortless performance. He will start the Breeders’ Cup Classic as strong favorite, with Arrogate just behind Cal. An interesting prospect and winner of two Challenge races, Frosted, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, has two possible routes, the Dirt Mile and the Classic, with the latter the more likely to be favored. A win in the Whitney Handicap back in August proved his credentials for the weekend’s showpiece event.
